Hello
I am still in lots of pain 2 years after my last surgery. I am utilizing pain mgt at the present time but have not been overly impressed as to what they have offered me so far.
I had an SI joint injection in May which did relieve some of my symptoms for about 6-7 weeks.
I had some trigger point injections on my neck and shoulders which have started giving me fits due to my new career in freelance writing for online publications.
I saw on the Olympics tonight the various volleyball players wearing tape on different areas of their bodies. They mentioned this was kinesio taping for improved movement and pain therapy.
I read some info on this, according to the info Lance Armstrong and his crew used this during the Tour De France and they had really good results with it and cold laser therapy as well.
I have an appt with my pain mgt guy on Monday and I am going to see what their take on this is.
I did find a chiro in Nashville which is about 45 min drive to 1 hr from me that does both therapies. I am really interested in pursueing this as I am very tired of being injected over and over til I feel like a darn pin cushion for a short term period of relief.
Anyone here had either of these procedures and what were your experiences with them?
TIA

I did have a physical therapist that was trained in this method and utilized taping with me on a regular basis. I was impressed with the results though this was before my ADR surgery. Towards the end the only pain relief was from GOOD DRUGS!

I think it is worth a try as the muscles are being redirected with the taping. Best of luck.

Hi Kim, welcome. There's a lot of information - and misinformation - out there on cold laser technology. Did you already search and sift through this board on this subject? Here are some of the results...from an advanced search.

Zorro, that's a bummer. I've learned that some patients get these treatments paid by insurance as physical therapy. Also, there are many differences in the cold laser technologies. E.g., the power output (duty cyle, wattage, wavelength, etc.). It depends on the pathology of the disease...

HI Rich
Thanks for the list and the links. I did search earlier and don't know what I did wrong, but I did not come up with all the ones that you gave me today.
It seems that this is beneficial for some not for others. I am still interested in researching this further. As I said, I will discuss this with the pain doc on Monday.
The chiro I found in Nashville did train with the chiro who treated Armstrong and the bike team on their Tour so that makes me feel better about the legitimacy of the treatment.
I will update with what I find out as it might benefit others.
Thanks again
