Hello, I just met David and his parents at the hotel and he is so ready, I think he'll blow the staff away with his Deutsch when he admits tommorrow........

His parents are just the best........

And I told David, very soon he will no longer have to wear the "pain face", Dr. B removes those , too.

chasswen 11-14-2006 12:42 PM

YEP, the force was with him and "The B", it was a very predictable case no complications, David met B last night with his parents and B came out after surgery and told his parents all went smooth.......keep in mind. B's "smooth" is someones elses" complicated".

David is as I suspected, wowing everyone with his German........

Boy he needed the surgery, pre-op, all he did was pace and pace.
couldn't sit for the pain...............

Congratulations David !!! Glad to hear everything went so well. Look forward to hearing from you.

BTW I finally got up enough nerve (or got tired of dealing with the pain) and I'm in the process of scheduling 2 level ADR above my existing one with Dr. B

tisury 11-18-2006 10:28 AM

That's great news. So nice of Anita to take the time to let us know how he is.

David 11-19-2006 05:19 AM

Thanks for everyone's words and support! I am out of the hospital now, and staying comfortably at the Römerhof. I do have a bunch of stuff written down that I want to post (on my normal website), but it is on my laptop. Hopefully, I will be able to get an internet connection for that soon, and then all will be good (I am using the public computer in the Römerhof lobby).

For the most part, everything went very well. The first day after surgery, of course, sucked.

The second day was actually worse, because they took me off of their pain medication, and told me (in a semi-medicated state) to start taking my own pain medication (which was right next to me). Now, I do recall that conversation, but it really didn't stick in my head, so I ended up having a huge crash in my system of NO drugs at all. Very, very, ganz Scheiße!

Anita ended up fixing the problem, and supposedly, a lot of people got yelled at by Dr. B`s staff for doing that (I was told by Anita that Dr. B was very upset with the whole situation.

I left the hospital on Saturday morning, which was a weird situation. I had to ask a couple of nurses a couple of times (speaking German does help) that all I had to do was to say Auf Wiedersehen, and leave).

Skip ahead to today (Sunday, around 1:15pm), and I feel utterly fantastic! I walk about 3x per day, and always remind myself that slow and steady wins the race!

Other than normal incision pain, and probably a bit of muscule irritation in my back, I feel almost like a human being again.

David

chasswen 11-19-2006 06:30 AM

heres a BIG WARM Welcome To the other side.

David 11-19-2006 09:45 AM

Appreciate it, Kim!

The only thing I wonder now is why I didn't do this at least one (if not two) years ago? (Chuck, please have a private laugh to yourself now!)

Yes, the first fews days were very difficult, but I am much much better now, and can actually envision living my life again! (eventually)

David

Normally, I believe the expression is......

A picture is worth a thousand words

How about, a picture is worth 28k €? http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common.../icon_wink.gif

Dr. B., Anita, and myself!

(as a slight warning, the last couple of shots in that album are of my scar [with my hand used as a frame of reference])

Kim_Dean\'sWife 11-21-2006 05:46 AM

David,
Thanks for posting pics of the hotel in with the others... it helped us to see for sure if that small apartment would accomodate our family if we get assigned to Straubing. (It'll be fine.) It's also nice to see what the hospital rooms look like. We are just so glad that you are doing well. It takes strength and courage to make it through this journey and you're doing great! Stay positive and keep smiling!
