I have a question that I'm sure some of you out there may be able to help me with. I'm currently Pre-Opp for ADR at L5/S1 as a result of many years of DDD. Following the discogram it was determined with 99% certainty that this was my pain generator. I am currently taking 2 pain meds. "AVINZA" 120 MG 1 PER DAY & MSIR (MORPHINE SULPHATE INSTANT RELEASE) 15 MG 4 TO 5 PER DAY. aSIDE FROM THAT i TAKE 5 MG "VALIUM" 3 PER DAY FOR STRESS. "EFFEXOR" 150 MG 1 PER DAY FOR DEPRESSION.
IS THE AMOUNT OF MORPHINE THAT I'M TAKING DAILY CONSIDERED AVERAGE - LOW - HIGH - VERY HIGH? THE "AVINZA" 120 MG IS ALSO MORPHINE & ADDED TO THE MSIR 5X15 MG= 75 MG FOR A TOTAL DAILY INTAKE OF 195 MG OF MORPHINE.
The reason I want to know if this is considered an unusually high amount is because my surgeon is very reluctant to operate on me with my baseline pain medication so high. He will do it but, we have to have a pain managment specialist follow me through surgery & during my Hospital stay. I don't have a problem with these recommendations at all. My only issue is there is no pain Mgt Dr available for another month or so. I've already had one surgery cancled for this very reason. Can't the anesthesiologist control the pain? I'm sure that I've built a high tolerance to Opiates because I can't even tell a difference when I've taken the Morphine. Thanks for any help.
