Dr. DeMeulenaere
HI I am being referred to Dr. DeMeulenaere for possible ADR. Fusion does not seem to be best option. Has any one an opinion on Dr. DeMeulenaere. How many adrs has he installed? Which ADR does he prefer? procedure personality and anything you think would help me choose him. Not that I have a choice. In western Canada he is one of the few I can locate .

Hey Blackbart, sorry for the late reply. I am not familiar with this doc, but that's does not mean anything. Have you had your appointment yet? Would it be helpful to locate and speak with other Canadians who have had spine surgery...
-- that live in Canada; -- live in Canada and had surgery in Canada; -- had surgery in other countries? You can do much of this yourself as a member using the search utilities. You can also search by the member directory. Let me know if you need help. Hey, is that avatar a picture of you? Man, you are ripped.

Hey Blackbart,
I'm in Calgary and had a heck of a time finding anyone. From what I've learned, Dr. Bouchard here in Calgary does them, but it's a 2 year waiting list to see him. I'm on the list, but have opted to fly to Europe in the meantime. The other one I've heard good things about is Dr. Jarzem in Montreal... though I have no clue how that would work out of province. The toughest part for us seems to be the waiting. -Brett |

Thanks for the quick response. The avatar was what I use to I look like when I was at 195lbs after 2 years of pain med experimentation I am down to 165 with a twist to the back and I carry a small stick for balance. The pain specialist at pan am clinic recommended DR DE of Brandon, and my wait is only 8 weeks. I have seen a neurosurgeon [6 month wait] and his response was he could do nothing for the pain My pain is intermittent from dull ache all the time to weekly episodes unable to walk, sit or lay without medication. My liver feels like a basketball so I have cut back to 10mg hydromorph contin + 30 mg oxycocete per day to relieve extreme pain but mostly it knocks me out.
I have not worked for 2 years, as soon as I start to feel useful, bang I am flat on my back again. My insurer is getting tired of carrying me and sends threatening letters weekly requesting more info and sending me to different doctors for evaluation. The last one was acupuncturist and his recommendation was I require a physiologist and physio which only aggravated the injury. I did work as an aviation technician, a physical job that requires flexibility. I am just getting up and around after the last episode, walking a little but limit sitting to 10 min max. Thanks to everyone for their help and to robinj keep up the fight wishing you all the best. I will keep in touch let you know how the appointment went BB
