Red face Need a new bed for my bad back and neck

I need to replace my bed. Has anyone bought a bed in the last year that you would highly recommend for those of us with bad backs and necks. I sure would appreciate your input on the type of bed, the cost and why you like it. A good bed can get expensive so, I don't want to mess this purchase up. I've read stories of people buying expensive beds only to have them start sagging six months later. That is disastrous for people with bad backs. Yikes. Help needed! Thanks

This is completely out of the box, but Laura's been doing well for about a decade using a wool futon, rotated every day to make sure you don't end up with lumps, on top of a top of the line Thermarest pad on the floor. Not saying that it's for everyone but it's good proof that cost isn't the best determiner of what works.

I recently got a Sleep Number. Works great for me.

Chronic back pain started in 2010 while shrugging weights that a 40 yr. old shouldn't even try.

MRI in 2012 showing L4/L5, L5/S1 herniations and L2/L3 bulge.

L5/S1 taking on new shape, chronic sciatica, etc.

DEXA bone scan performed 5/7/14 showing mild osteopenia.

Surgery performed July 9th, 2014, Dr Clavel, hybrid three level lumbar.

I got mine from Sleep Country. They have excellent return policies and were very educational. I went back to the store twice and spent lots of time laying in diff positions on beds. Ended up with a medium firmness, no pillow top. This link to their bed selector might be useful to you even if you don't buy from them...
