Hello all, it's been awhile. Well I found out today that I will be having surgery on Dec 1. The doctors office called today to say that they needed to change my surgery date, the first thing that I said was I didn't know I had a surgery date to start with. So after fighting with Tricare (military ins.) for 2 years. Hubby retired from the Air Force after 23 years, and now has a goverment job. I now have Federal BC/BS. Believe it or not they approved the surgery on the first time!!! When they called today and told me, I just started crying. It has been such a long fight. I will be getting a Pro Disc at L5-S1 on Dec 1st!!! OK now to get ready for surgery. I will be having surgery in Billings MT which is 4 hours from where I live, so any advice on car traveling after surgery? Right now I'm trying to find a hotel for my hubby, making a list of things to take with me and things that I will need when I get home. So to those of you who are fighting with your insurance company's don't give up, more and more are paying for ADR. I will post again later, right now my brain is still spinning. I will most likely think of a million questions in the next few days. Cathy

YAYYYYY! I cried also when I got my date..excitement and fear. I had a 1 1/2 hour car ride home from the hospital after 4 days. My hubby brought a few pillows which really were too bulky but also a few of our fluffy bathsheets which worked really well, softened the car seat as well as I could place them where they were needed. I will be praying for you.
p.s a little tip for all having surgery yet. Someone mentioned bringing a lavender sachet to put in your pillow case to make you relax in the hospital (and smell something other than the hospital smell). I wish i heard that before my surgery.

Cathy,
I only had a couple of hours to travel but i found the back seats laid out made a comfortable journey for me and a stop to stretch the legs was helpful. My wife threw a couple of extras in for me a bowl of water and a blanket,i got a bit annoyed when she hit with a rolled up newspaper for barking out the window Have a smooth ride to post op world! cheers Andy |
