My Nurse Case Manager asked me if I could find out what the process is for a surgeon once a device has become FDA approved in terms of going from using it at one level to two or three, or just "at his or her perogative" when it comes to ADR implant devices.
At this time WC is trying to say that the Charite has only been approved for 1 level via the FDA. My understanding is that the device is now FDA approved and there may be recommendations for usage by the manufacturer however, the surgeon would decide how to further use this device and there would be some general standards of care in the community that might guide this also. Can anyone help me with some kind of formal documenation or guideline that a surgeon might use for say the Charite (FDA approved) implant in terms of multilevels? thanks.. I hope I haven't garbled this question up too badly that no one can understand what I need... |

bumping this up .. Mark, thinking you might have best access to this type of information altho anyone working with US Spine Surgeons who are involved in the trials or with Charite implants might know... lawyers, nurses...
Looking for direction as to where this type of information might be found.. |

Maria,
What about contacting Regans office and asking the question or DePuy Spine at 1-800-227-6633 they may be able to answer the question and when you get the answer let us know.

Maria,
Check out my new post on your BCBS thread. You need to find out the underwriting insurance company for your WC claim. If it is any company but BCBS of CA, you have a good chance of gaining approval.

If you can wait, then maybe ADR's will get more global approvals:

My WC co. is Octagon Risk Management. BCBS is what I chose to pick up my medical thru hub's work however, they won't cover anything WC, nor will Medicare..
I am stuck w/trying to get this thru WC or win lotto, marry a millionaire (oh sure/me almost 52).. or become a millionaire... I do appreciate responses and will try call Depuy re Charite to try to obtain this info (thanks Paulette). The Nurse Case Manager said it's imperative to have this information for any hope of an arguement so I must find out how to access this info before we even discuss ADR as an option w/Claims Manager for WC again on the topic... |

oh yeah.. forget tall and leggy in the blonde description.. blondes don't hate me.. I'm now one too more or less.. |

Dont' dismiss yourself! I called my recently divorced friend here. Although his MS in science was other than nursing, he's very interested in the field, humanitarian concerns, Latin culture, petite and an intelligent woman, an much more. He'll contact you thru this board. (I get the finder's fee of course).
